Edmonton police responded to the area of 118 Avenue and 90 Street on multiple reports of an assault on May 3rd at approximately 6:30 a.m.

On arrival police located a man in medical distress. Paramedics responded and transported the man to hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Aan autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that Michal Sadomski, 44, died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and chest. The manner of death is homicide.

White Mngope Nganika, 24, has since been charged with second-degree murder.

Update: A jury found Nganika guilty of manslaughter in early 2026, after he had initially been charged with second-degree murder.

White Nganika, 26, received his sentence Tuesday May 19th in Edmonton’s Court of King’s Bench. After receiving credit for time already served in custody, he has a little under six years left to serve.
