On Sunday, August 31, 2025, around 7:35 a.m., Edmonton Police Service officers from the Downtown Branch responded to a report of a deceased man in the river valley near 101 Street and 100 Avenue. A witness reported seeing a man lying on a hill close to a nearby stairway.

Upon arrival, police confirmed the man was dead. The EPS Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Update: Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on the man and determined his death is non-criminal.
