Update: Cotie Weekley found dead by her 8 year old daughter

Police were called to an Oshawa home at 5270 Simcoe Street N, on January 23 at around 11:20am after report of a dead body. The neighbor said the victim’s 8 year old daughter knocked on his backdoor and asked him to call 911 because her mother was dead and a man was threatening to kill himself.

Police arrived at the scene and found the body of 31 year old Cotie Weekley in the backyard. Weekley was pronounced dead at the scene. A 31 year old man was also found at the scene with serious injuries. Police said the man was known to Weekley and he remains in hospital.

The cause of death has not been determined, and no charges have been laid at this time. Police are investigating the death as a homicide.

The death of Cotie Weekley is the second Oshawa homicide of 2017.

Update February 5th

Wesley Guzylak, 31, has been charged with the death of Weekley. Police said Guzylak was the man found at the scene, and that Guzylak and Weekley were in a relationship.
