Update: Charges laid – Calgary police investigate the homicide of Sharilyn Shelley Ann Gagnon at the Airport Traveller’s Inn

Calgary police were called to the Airport Traveller’s Inn, located at 1808 19 Street N.E., for reports of a disturbance on March 23rd at approximately 8:10pm.

Police arrived to find a woman who was later identified as Sharilyn Shelley Ann Gagnon, 33, of Calgary, deceased in the suite. Homicide detectives believe she was murdered sometime on Tuesday, March 23rd, and that it wasn’t a random act of violence.

Police said evidence has also linked the incident to a serious assault on a man who remains in hospital with serious, life-altering injuries. Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta said “We currently have one suspect in custody in relation to Tuesday’s homicide and serious assault,” the accused can’t be named until he has been formally charged by a Justice of the Peace.

Update March 28th
Vladimir Ngbangbo SOKI, 29, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder. He also faces aggravated assault charges in relation to the serious assault of another man. Schiavetta said “Our detectives continue to investigate and believe this was a targeted attack and that it was domestic in nature.”.
