Update: Yannick Bandaogo pleaded guilty to second-degree murder – A woman is dead and 6 others injured in a 2021 stabbing at Lynn Valley Library in North Vancouver

North Vancouver RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at the Lynn Valley Library on March 27th. B.C. Emergency Health Services responded just after 1:45 p.m. and 11 ambulances and two supervising vehicles were sent to the scene.

On arrival First responders located six injured people and a woman deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been revealed at this time.

The lone suspect, a male believed to be in his 20’s was arrested and remains in North Vancouver RCMP custody. The suspect is known to police and has a criminal record.

Sgt. Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said “Obviously the question is why did this happen, I understand. We believe we know the how, the what, the where, and the when. It is our job now to determine why,” 

Update March 28th
Yannick Bandaogo, 28, is charged with second-degree murder. He has undergone surgery for self-inflicted wounds and is currently in police custody.

Update May 30th
Yannick Bandaogo pleaded guilty in court Monday May 29th to second-degree murder, and charges of attempted murder, and one count of aggravated assault.
