Brett McCallum Arrested for Second-Degree Murder After Death of Jaden Custer in Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan 2026 Homicide Victim List

Saskatchewan RCMP are searching for 31-year-old Brett McCallum, also known as Nigel McCallum, after a second-degree murder charge was laid in connection with a homicide investigation in Pelican Narrows.

The investigation began in the early morning hours of May 21, 2026, when Pelican Narrows RCMP were called to a residence at approximately 3:40 a.m. for reports of an injured man.

When officers arrived, they located a male victim inside the home. EMS attended the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

Police later identified the victim as 26-year-old Jaden Custer of Pelican Narrows. His family has been notified, and victim services have been offered.

Due to the suspicious nature of the death, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit took over the case.

On May 22, 2026, investigators announced that Brett McCallum had been charged with second-degree murder.

McCallum is described as approximately six feet tall, weighing around 200 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Police say he has several identifying features, including scars on both forearms, a crown tattoo on his right hand, a rosary and cross tattoo on his left forearm, and a mole above his right eyebrow.

Update: Edmonton Police Service arrested Brett McCallum on May 23 in the Edmonton area. 

RCMP are warning the public not to approach him if seen. Anyone with information about his location or the investigation is asked to contact Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP or provide anonymous tips through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
