Update: additional charges laid – Brantford police are investigating the double homicide of Larry Reynolds and Dorothy Lynn VanEvery

Brantford police responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a shooting at an address on Park Road South, on July 18th at approximately 7:55 am.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene to find Larry Reynolds 64 and Dorothy Lynn VanEvery 62, husband and wife, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were treated by paramedics at the scene, however, both victims died of their injuries at the scene. The other people in the home at the time of the shooting were unharmed.

Police are searching for a Black Chrysler 300 4 door, chrome trim around the doors. It had 10 spoke shiny chrome rims with blacked-out windows with black door handles. They are also looking for a Dark grey or black vehicle make and model are unknown. One suspect has been described as male, wearing all black with a balaclava covering his face. 

Police believe the homicide was targeted. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050. 

Update March 26th, 2020
Brantford police, along with The OPP Criminal Investigations Branch said Kareem Zedan, 22, of Pickering, was arrested in Thunder Bay on March 24, 2020. Zedan has been charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder and remains in custody. Zedan is scheduled to make an appearance by video before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on April 2, 2020.

Update April 2nd.
Thunder Bay Police say Kareem Zedan, 22, escaped custody from the Thunder Bay District Jail on April 1st and he now remains at large. The Thunder Bay Police Service is taking all necessary steps to locate and re-arrest the suspect. Zedan is described as a Black male standing 6’1” tall with a thin build. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Update April 2nd
Thunder Bay Police Service located ZEDAN at an address in the intercity area at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2. Police said ZEDAN was accused was arrested without incident. New charges are pending.

ZEDAN is now being transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street where he will remain in custody until a future court appearance expected to take place on Friday, April 3.

Update September 23rd, 2020
On September 21st Brantford police arrested Nathan Lloyd Emlyn HOWES, 30, of Brantford, and charged him with two counts of First-Degree Murder. Police also arrested Malik MBUYI, 19, of Toronto on September 23rd, and charged him with two counts of First-Degree Murder.

Update June 4th 2021
Thomy Baiz-Euesebio, or Baez-Euesebio, of Toronto was charged on April, 26th 2021, with two counts of first-degree murder, also faces a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

**Five months after the murder of his parents, Roger Van Every, 37, and Shajjad Hossain Idrish, 23, of Hamilton, were each charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in a triple shooting at the Galaxy Motel on Colborne Street in Brantford.

Update June 24th
Brantford police announced that:

  •  Malik MBUYI, 20 years old of Toronto,
  •  Nathan HOWES, 31 years old of Brantford,
  •  Dylan ALRIDGE, 24 years old of North York,
  •  Terrell PHILBERT, 22 years old of York,
  •  Thomy BAEZ-EUSEBIO, 23 years old of Toronto, and
  •  Salloum JASSEM, 32 years old of Brant County.

Have all been charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, contrary to Section 465 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code in the deaths of Lynn VANEVERY and Larry REYNOLDS. Police said neither Lynn VANEVERY nor Larry REYNOLDS were the perpetrators’ intended target.
