According to Evansburg RCMP, officers received a report at approximately 8:38 a.m. on Thursday May 28th that a man had struck a person with a pickup truck. Police said the individual was then placed in the back of the truck before the driver left the scene.
Authorities later located the vehicle, but the driver allegedly fled when officers attempted to stop him. He was eventually taken into custody and initially charged with aggravated assault and fleeing from police.
The victim, identified as 46-year-old Danielle Sanders, was transported to hospital, where she later died from her injuries. An autopsy has since determined that her death was a homicide.
On Monday June 1st, 52-year-old Neil Gow has been charged with manslaughter. A previous charge of aggravated assault was withdrawn.
