The Barrie Police Service announced on August 14th that they have been conducting a complex investigation that began earlier this year following a missing person report.

The scope of the investigation has grown over time, involving extensive searches across multiple locations: a large wooded area in Barrie near Victoria Street, John Street, and Anne Street South; a rural property on Yearly Road in Huntsville; and a residence in North Simcoe County.

During these searches, investigators recovered evidence, including suspected human remains, which have since been sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for further analysis.

Significant forensic activity took place after the primary suspect in this case was identified and arrested in Midland on August 2. The 52-year-old man remains in custody and is facing 19 criminal charges, including several firearm-related offences, dangerous driving, and fleeing from police. He has not yet had a bail hearing.

Following his arrest, the investigation advanced, and information gathered from witness interviews led police to identify Robert Ladouceur as the person responsible for the deaths and dismemberment of 45-year-old William ‘Blake’ Robinson and 41-year-old David ‘Kyle’ Cheesequay.

Today, Barrie Police detectives formally laid additional charges against Ladouceur, including:

  • Second-degree murder
  • First-degree murder
  • Two counts of indignity to a dead body
  • Multiple firearms-related offences
  • Possession and trafficking of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl
  • Possession of crime proceeds over $5,000

He is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie tomorrow for a bail hearing.

Due to the active and sensitive nature of the case, no further updates will be released until Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Barrie Police Sgt Brett Carleton told reporters on August 26th the homicide was not random, the accused and victims were known to each other, and all lived in the Ann Street encampment at some point in time. Police are not looking for any other suspects.

  • William “Blake” Robinson, 45, had been missing since January 18, 2025, and was reported missing on February 10th.
  • Cheesequay was reported missing near the end of July.
