York Region Police responded to an assault at a home in the area of Queensville Sideroad and Yonge Street in East Gwillimbury on October 17th at approximately 11:25pm .

On arrival police located the victim with serious injuries. Despite emergency efforts, the man later died of his injuries. Police have not released details about the circumstances of the assault or the relationship between the victim and the suspect.

Jeantel BURRY-BURGESS, 30, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene and charged with:

• Second-Degree Murder
• Breach of Probation x2
• Assault – Choking

Police said BURRY-BURGESS was on probation for unrelated offences at the time of the incident.

Update: The victim has been identified as Kurl Burry, 57, of Bowmanville.
