Montreal Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Downtown Shooting — City’s 21st Homicide of the Year

Montreal police (SPVM) have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in the early hours of July 15. The incident, which marked the city’s 21st homicide of the year, occurred near the busy intersection of Saint-Laurent Boulevard and René-Lévesque Boulevard in the Ville-Marie borough.

According to SPVM, officers were called to the scene around 12:45 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting gunfire and a man lying on the ground. When police arrived, they found a 33-year-old man unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect had already fled by the time officers arrived.

A day later, SPVM arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the shooting. He appeared in court and is now facing several charges, including first-degree murder.

Police have not yet released the identities of either the victim or the accused. The investigation is ongoing.
