Update: Lunenburg RCMP deems Mahone Bay deaths murder suicide.

Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a request to check on the wellbeing of two people at a home on Long Hill Rd. in Mahone Bay on January 5 at approximately 1:05 p.m.

On arrival police located the remains of a 60-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man in the home. The deaths are being treated as suspicious, the individuals were known to one another.

Investigators said there is no evidence at this time to suggest any risk to the public. The investigation is in the initial stages and no further information will be released at this time.

Update: The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office, investigation has determined that the woman’s death was a result of homicide and that the man, who died as a result of self-inflicted wounds, was responsible for the woman’s death. This incident was the result of intimate partner violence.

According to CBC the victim was Elaine Mosher.
