Winnipegosis RCMP received a report of shots fired on West Road in Minegoziibe Anishinabe on June 2, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm.

On arrival police located an injured 34-year-old male. Despite life-saving measures, the male succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The death was determined to be a homicide and RCMP Major Crime Services became engaged and took carriage of the investigation.

At approximately 4:30 am on June 3, 2024, a deceased female, 52, was located in the area where the first male was located.

Investigators identified the suspect, and at approximately 5:25 am, a 19-year-old male was contained in a residence in the community. The suspect fired shots at RCMP officers from the residence. No officers were physically injured. The suspect attempted to flee the residence on an off-road vehicle but was apprehended by the attending officers and Dauphin Police Dog Services.

Police said the suspect remains in custody at this time. Charges have not yet been formally laid.

Update June 6th, The male arrested for the double homicide in Minegoziibe Anishinabe has been charged. Oryan Flamand, 19, from the community, is facing two charges of Second Degree Murder.
