Emergency services responded to a medical call at a home on Sandhills Road in Wilmot Township on September 24th at approximately 1:20 p.m.
On arrival, paramedics located 88-year-old Viola Erb deceased. The cause of death has not been released, however, Waterloo Regional Police, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner, have determined that the death was a homicide.

Waterloo Regional Police announced on September 29th that a 39-year-old Wilmot Township male has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The accused who has been identified in outlets as Erick Buhr, was remanded into custody and will reappear in court on October 19, 2022.
Update: On Monday November 4th Erick Buhr, 41, was found guilty for the murder of his 88-year-old grandmother, Viola Erb. According to CTV Kitchener, the judge told the jury that the law requires Buhr to be sentenced to life in prison. 10 of the 12 jurors recommended Buhr serve at least 20 years before being eligible for parole.
