Maskwacis RCMP responded to an aggravated assault on Ermineskin First Nations on Sept. 29, 2023.

On arrival police located a 52-year-old male resident of Maskwacis, suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old individual, a resident of Wetaskiwin, Alta., was charged with second-degree murder.

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody with a next court appearance on Oct. 10, 2023.
