York Regional Police responded to a check-welfare call at a residence in the area of Gracedale Drive and Shaftsbury Avenue on September 21st at 8:25 a.m.

On arrival police located a deceased adult in the home. The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Xiaomei WANG.

At approximately 3:07 p.m., police located and arrested 23-year-old Henry AI, from Richmond Hill, in the City of Toronto. Police said he is facing a second-degree murder charge.

According to City News, Wang is the mother of Al.

The investigation is ongoing. The Homicide Unit is seeking assistance obtaining any video surveillance footage available in the area of Gracedale Drive near Shaftsbury Avenue, in Richmond Hill, between September 20, 2024, at 5 p.m. to September 21, 2024, at 9 a.m.
