Winnipeg Homicide: Kingsley Murray Bruce Identified as Victim in City’s 6th Homicide of 2026; Two Men Charged with Manslaughter

Winnipeg Police Service responded to reports of a firearm discharge at an apartment block in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue shortly after 3:00 p.m. on March 3, 2026.

When officers arrived, North District General Patrol members, along with the Tactical Support Team and the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Unit, searched the building and located a 40-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.

Police later identified the victim as Kingsley Murray Bruce, 40, a member of Poplar River First Nation who had been living in Winnipeg.

Several days after the shooting, investigators made two arrests. On March 9, 2026, police located 25-year-old Emmanuel Max Spence in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue and charged him with manslaughter. He was taken into custody.

Two days later, on March 11, 2026, officers arrested 39-year-old Thomas Jeremy (TJ) Spence in the area of Bannerman Avenue and McKenzie Street. He was also charged with manslaughter and remains in custody.

Investigators say the victim and both accused were known to each other at the time of the shooting, though further details about the circumstances leading up to the incident have not been released.
