Oceanside RCMP was contacted to assist BC Ambulance after it was reported that there was an injured person in the 5000 block of Thompson Clark Drive West in Bowser on August 31st.

Police located the victim suffering from serious injuries, already being treated by both BC Ambulance and the Fire Department. The victim died at the scene. Sergeant Chris Manseau said “VIIMCU has been notified and is now investigating. While we are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, police believe this was an isolated incident, one a person is in custody and there is no on-going risk to the general public.”

RCMP said due to the privacy of the deceased, their name / gender will not be released at this time.

Update September 8th
The victim had been identified in court documents as Caroline Bernard. Her former partner Luciano Emilio Mariani, is facing one count of second-degree murder.
