Update: Matthew Delaney Charged – Two Men Found Dead in Aldershot Street Home in St. John’s, RNC Treating Case as a Double Homicide

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to a home on Aldershot Street in St. John’s, where officers discovered two men, ages 38 and 53, dead inside the residence.

The deaths are considered homicides, and the Criminal Investigation Division, along with Forensic Identification Services, has taken over the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined to be homicides, with their injuries consistent with stab wounds.

Investigators are asking anyone in the Aldershot area or nearby streets who may have information or surveillance footage from Dec. 1 between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. to contact the RNC. Any unusual or suspicious activity observed during that time may be helpful to the investigation.

After an investigation by the RNC Major Crime Unit, 41-year-old Matthew Delaney was taken into custody around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 11 in the Water Street West area. He has been charged with two counts of murder.
