On Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:38 a.m., police responded to a stabbing incident in the area of Dovercourt Road and Geary Avenue.

Officers arrived at the scene and found 38-year-old Paulo Mota from Toronto, with a stab wound. Life-saving efforts were initiated immediately. Mota was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries on Monday, February 24, 2025, from his injuries.

Update: On Sunday, June 8, 2025, Maria Rivero, 44, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.

She is scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre
