Toronto Homicide #16 of 2026: Iman Khawane Identified as Victim in Fatal Downtown Shooting, Suspect Charged

Toronto police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the downtown core on Saturday morning.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on June 20, 2026, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Jarvis Street and Dundas Street East. Upon arrival, police located a woman inside an apartment unit suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency responders immediately provided life-saving medical assistance before the victim was transported to hospital. Despite their efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

Investigators have identified the victim as Iman Khawane, 31, of Toronto. Police have also released an image of the victim as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to investigators, the victim and the accused were known to one another.

The case marks Toronto’s 16th homicide of 2026.

Police have arrested Jaden Riley, 25, of New Tecumseth, who has been charged with second-degree murder. He was scheduled to appear before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
