Surrey, British Columbia 2026 Homicide Victim List

Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers responded to reports of a residential fire in the 12700 block of 56 Avenue, just after 7:00 a.m. on January 12, 2026. Officers attended the scene to assist Surrey Fire Service crews with road closures while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

As firefighters battled the fully involved home and conducted a search for potential occupants, they located the body of an adult male inside the residence. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Naseem Mohammed. Mr. Mohammed was known to police and believed to be associated to the BC Gang Conflict. This investigation is active and ongoing.

IHIT has now taken charge of the investigation and is working closely with SPS to carry out key investigative steps.

According to reports, Mohammed, a rapper known as Certi2x and Wlatt, had been living in Dubai after his release from a U.S. prison in 2024. U.S. authorities had previously identified him as a high-ranking member of the Brothers Keepers and a suspect in several gang-related homicides.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information, dashcam footage, or CCTV video from the area of the 12700 block of 56 Avenue between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on January 12 to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448).
