Update Foster Mother Charged – Lydia Whitford’s death being investigated as a homicide 5 months later

Manitoba RCMP were called to a residence in the RM of Springfield on July 14. Police arrived to find Lydia Whitford 18, dead.

According to Lydia’s sister Jessica Whitford, Lydia had autism, epilepsy and was non-verbal.

Back in July it was thought that Lydia died of natural causes, since then, on December 20th investigators say that Whitford’s death was a homicide.

The cause of death has not been released.

Lisa Marie Campbell, 26, the foster mother of 18 year old Lydia Whitford was arrested on December 7th 2017, and charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of Lydia Whitford.

Benjamin Franklin Traverse shot to death in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police were called to the area of 400 block of Pritchard Avenue on November 28th at around 11:30 pm on report of a shooting.

Police arrived to find Benjamin Franklin Traverse 39, suffering from a gunshot wound. Traverse was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on December 3rd.

Winnipeg police are looking for Michael Tylor Fless, 30 and James Andrew Jewels, 26, in relation to the death of Traverse.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Fless and Jewels should contact Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.

Update on 2016 homicide, Winnipeg Homicide #21: Theodoros Belayneh shot after leaving a concert

Winnipeg police were called to the area of Donald Street and Stradbrook Avenue on November 26th at around 3am on reports of gunshots.

Police arrived to find two men with injuries consistent with a shooting. The two men were rushed to hospital where Theodoros Belayneh, 32, from Edmonton died of his injuries. The other man is expected to survive.

Winnipeg police re asking anyone who attended the Ace Hood show, and may have photos or videos of the parking lot at Reset Interactive Ultralounge to come forward. Anyone who has photos or videos is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6508.

Update Jan 2 2017
Paige Crossman 24 was charged with first-degree murder of Belayneh, she was also charged with attempted murder, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, drug trafficking and possessing the proceeds of crime.

Update May 12, 2017
Julian Donally Telfer, 30,  was arrested on May 11th and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Franc Mlakar found dead in Thompson

Thompson Police received a call to check on the well being of a senior on November 17th. Police arrived to find 83 year old Franc Mlakar dead.

Police said the death appears to be a homicide. Mlakar’s was last seen by friends on October 31.

Police are asking for the help of the public in piecing together the time he was last seen, and the discovery of Mr. Mlakar.

Two charged in Wasagamack First Nation homicide

Island Lake RCMP responded to a report of a body found on October 20th at around 1:30pm near a lake in the community.

Police arrived to find the 32 year old man dead. Police said his name will not be released.

Orien Harper 23, and Harmony Mason 18 have been arrested and are facing second degree murder charges.

Edna McNabb charged in Moose Lake First Nation homicide

RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Moose Lake first Nation on October 5th where they found a 35 year old man injured. The victim was rushed to a nursing station, where he was pronounced dead.

37 year old Edna Mcnabb,  of Moose Lake First Nation has been charged with manslaughter. Police have not released the victims name or the relationship between the victim and the accused at this time.

17 year old killed in Thompson

Police were called to a downtown Thompson home just after 10pm on September 12th on report of a disturbance. Police arrived to find a 17 year old male injured.

The boy was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.  Police arrested a 31 year old man from Thompson in relation to the death of the boy.

The cause of death has not been released at this time.

21 year old found dead on Birdtail Sioux First Nation

Police are investigating the second Sioux First Nation death in less than two months. A 21 year old man was found dead on Friday September 2nd. The cause of death will not be released at this time as the investigation is in the early stages.

A 25 year old man from Birdtail Sioux First Nation is facing manslaughter charged in the death of the 21 year old man.

On July 8th, a 59 year old man was killed in the same community.

UPDATE-Garnet Williams found dead in a dumpster, arrests made

Winnipeg police were called to an apartment building on McGee Street on August 10th on report of a dead body in a dumpster behind the building.

Police arrived to find the body of a man who was later identified as Garnet Williams 43 of Winnipeg.

UPDATE – August 28th
Police said Williams was assaulted on July 31, and confined to a home where he passed away from his injuries days later.

Jeremy Lee Allen 27,  has been charged with first degree murder. Lyle Barrow 30, and Miranda Nancy Leclaire 32, have been charged with manslaughter in the death of Williams.

Jennifer Kelly Hall 25, and a 56 year old unnamed man have been charged with indignity to a human body.

Update December 8th
Lyle Barrow 30, and Miranda Nancy Leclaire 32 original charges of manslaughter have been upgraded to first degree murder.
