Surrey, British Columbia 2026 Homicide Victim List

A homicide investigation is underway after a fatal stabbing in Surrey left one person dead and another injured, before a police confrontation resulted in the death of the suspect.

Surrey Police Service officers responded to a report of an assault at a building in the 13300 block of Old Yale Road at approximately 1 p.m. on May 29. Upon arrival, officers found two victims suffering from stab wounds.

Despite emergency medical efforts by police and BC Emergency Health Services, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The deceased stabbing victim was a 55-year-old man who lived in the same building as the alleged suspect, a 65-year-old man. The surviving stabbing victim is a 35-year-old woman who was in the vicinity of the building.

The suspect had fled before officers arrived but was located a short distance away. During a confrontation with police, officers discharged their service weapons, seriously injuring the suspect. He was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the homicide investigation, while the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) is investigating the police-involved shooting. No further details have been released.
