Edmonton police responded to an assault complaint at a residence in the area of 95 Street and 105 Avenue on Monday, Mar. 11, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Downtown Branch patrol officers. Upon arrival, police located a 72-year-old male, Lawrence Dion, in critical condition. He was treated and transported to hospital by EMS where he died of his injuries on March 13th.

Investigators determined that in the morning on March 11th Shawn Lawrence Dion, 37, had physically assaulted both his mother and his father, Lawrence Dion, at their residence. Later that day, Shawn was located and arrested, initially being charged with aggravated assault and assault. His charges have been upgraded to manslaughter following the death of his father.
