Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP received a report of a sudden death on Montreal Lake Cree Nation on June 7th at approximately 11:50am.

On arrival police located 33-year-old Chad Duncan Bird deceased near House 612 on Montreal Lake Cree Nation.

Update: on October 14, 2023, 37-year-old Julian Ganton from Prince Albert was arrested in Saskatoon Ganton is charged with one count, being an accessory after the fact to murder, Section 240, Criminal Code and one count, driving while prohibited, Section 320.18(1), Criminal Code. He appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on October 16, 2023.

On October 16, 2023, 26-year-old Tristen Naytowhow from Prince Albert was arrested in Prince Albert. He is charged with one count, second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code and one count, possession of a firearm while prohibited, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.
