On May 19, 2025, Agassiz RCMP conducted a wellness check at an RV trailer on Bridal Falls Road in Rosedale, where they found a 42-year-old man deceased.

His death was later deemed suspicious, and IHIT took over the investigation on May 28.

After a four-month investigation involving multiple agencies, 44-year-old Omer Ibrahim of the Lower Mainland was charged with second-degree murder on September 12, 2025.
