Nanaimo RCMP declare the death of Lee Harland a homicide

Nanaimo RCMP said 42-year old Lee Harland of no fixed address was found deceased in a woody area by the railway tracks near Kennedy St at Comox Road, behind the Nanaimo curling rink on September 12th.

Investigators determined that Harland had been residing in Nanaimo for some time, and that he was living a transient lifestyle and would frequent homeless encampments throughout Nanaimo.

On September 23rd police said “Based on evidence found to date, the death is now considered a homicide.”

Anyone who had recent contact with Lee Harland, or knew him, is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345. Also, investigators are asking motorists to check their dash cam video from Sept 9th to Sept 12th, 2024 in the event they drove by the area in question.
