Rose Valley RCMP received a report of an injured person at a residence on Yellow Quill First Nation on August 18, 2024 at approximately 5 p.m.

Police located an injured adult female. She was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as 24-year-old Terrance Tony-Kishayinew from Yellow Quill First Nation.

Police arrested a man at the scene in relation to her death. The investigation determined he’d assaulted a second adult individual, who did not report injuries to police.

26-year-old Cole Smokeyday from Yellow Quill First Nation is charged with one count, uttering threats, one count, second degree murder, one count, assault.
