Durham region police responded to an unknown trouble call in the area of Hillman Drive and Shoal Point Road in Ajax on March 30, 2024, at approximately 11:05 p.m.

On arrival police located 45-year-old Jennifer Polak suffering from obvious signs of trauma.  Life-saving measures were performed, however, she was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Kyle Severin, 35, who has been identified as the boyfriend of the victim, was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder.
