On January 1, 2025, at around 9:19 a.m., the Port Moody Police Department received a call about a woman’s body found in the water at Reed Point Marina, located at 850 Barnet Highway in Port Moody, BC.
With help from the Coast Guard, authorities retrieved the body of a woman in her 60s. Her identity has not been released at this time.
The circumstances surrounding the death have been deemed suspicious and criminality cannot be ruled out at this time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation. IHIT officers are canvassing the area for potential witnesses and surveillance footage.
Authorities believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The identity of the victim is being withheld out of respect for her family during this difficult time.
IHIT is seeking information from anyone near Reed Point Marina between 3:00 p.m. on December 31, 2024, and 9:30 a.m. on January 1, 2025.
