Daniel Cashaback-Myra charged with second-degree murder, gets 5-year manslaughter sentence in 2021, Mayo, Yukon homicide

Mayo RCMP responded to a report of an injured 38-year old man at the Health Center on January 10th. 38-year-old male victim who’s identity is being withheld out of respect for the family, died of his injuries shortly after police arrival.

Daniel Cashaback-Myra, from Mayo was arrested later that day, and has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder.

Update June 22, 2023
Daniel Cashaback-Myra, pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this year in relation to the homicide. As a result Yukon Supreme Court Chief Justice Suzanne Duncan accepted a joint submission from the Crown and defence seeking a five-year sentence, a year more than the mandatory minimum sentence for manslaughter using a firearm. 

According to an admission of facts it was a failed drug deal that led to the fatal shooting.
