Red Deer RCMP responed to the residential block of 59th Street between Gaetz Ave and 54th Avenue, for a person in distress on January 1st at approximately 6:00pm.

The victim Reichel Alpeche, 30, was pronounced deceased. Police said an autopsy was completed on Feb. 2nd and the manner of death has been determined to be homicide.

As a result of the investigation police have determined that Reichel interrupted the theft of her vehicle and died as a result of injuries received when the suspect fled in her vehicle.

RCMP are seeking assistance from the public in locating Reichel’s vehicle which was used in the offence. The vehicle is a 2018 Kia Rio with Alberta licence plate BZZ-3962. The vehicle will have damage to the front. Anyone with information is asked to contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575.

Update February 7th
RCMP announced of Feb.7th that the 2018 Kia Rio has been located. The RCMP would like to thank the public and media for their assistance.

Update February 9th
Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are looking for assistance in identifying an individual in relation to this investigation.
