Island Lake RCMP responded to the report of a deceased 1-year-old boy on February 17th at approximately 9:16am in Wasagamack First Nation.

Police said the death is being investigated as a homicide.

A 26-year-old woman was arrested and remains in custody. RCMP say they are not looking for any other suspects.

Update: On February 18th Jayna Knott, 26, of Wasagamack Anisininew Nation, was charged with Second Degree murder in the homicide of a one-year-old male that occurred on February 17, 2024.
