Update: Deon Libsekil & Jimmy Gassner Charged – 22-Year-Old Birinder Singh Killed in QEII Highway Shooting Near Leduc

RCMP report that a dirty white or grey pickup truck was spotted pulling up next to a black 2012 Honda Civic on Highway QEII, just south of Leduc near Township Road 490 on March 14th at approximately 2:50pm.

On arrival, the police located 22-year-old Birinder Singh, who had been shot and killed. According to reports Singh and friends were taking a trip to Banff on their day off. According to Global News, the friends said someone in the truck made a hand gesture toward them that looked like a peace sign, and Singh responded by waving back. Shortly after, a person in the truck began shooting.

Update: Jimmy Gassner, 18, was arrested on March 21st in Canoe Lake, Sask, and charged with Second-Degree murder.

RCMP announced that a second suspect, 23-year-old Deon Libsekil, was arrested on March 26th, and charged with second-degree murder and accessory after the fact. Sgt. John Brown said Libsekil was also known to police and already in custody on unrelated matters.
