The 2024 Winnipeg Homicide Victim List is available here
On March 16, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a suite in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue regarding the report of an individual in distress.
Attending officers located Robert Clayton SMITH, 35, suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Update: On April 23, 2024, Winnipeg police announced investigators obtained a Warrant for Arrest of Maxim Dale GARNEAU, 27 years old. GARNEAU was arrested for 1st Degree Murder at the Winnipeg Remand Centre on the strength of the warrant. He was arrested in the Point Douglas area with a loaded rifle in his backpack on April 11.
Garneau is also wanted for the unrelated homicides of Edgar Allan BEAR, and Daniel Raymond GARVEY-RODRIQUEZ.
