The 2024 Winnipeg Homicide Victim List is available here
Winnipeg Police Service responded to an apartment building suite in the 800 block of Main Street regarding an unresponsive adult male on March 19, 2024, at approximately 9:15 a.m.
Police located the adult male, who was transported to hospital and pronounced deceased.
The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
Update: Investigators have identified the victim as 24-year-old Murdo BAKER, originally from South Indian Lake, residing in Winnipeg.
Winnipeg police announced on Dyson Irvin SUMNER, 28 years old (seen in the image below), is currently wanted for 2nd Degree Murder.
Update: On April 20, 2024, with the assistance of Saskatoon Police Service, Dyson SUMNER, wanted for the murder of Murdo BAKER, was arrested in Saskatoon, SK. Dyson Irvin SUMNER, 28 years old, has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Warrants for Possess Weapon and Failing to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 3.
