Timmy Ménard-Mélo charged in Gatineau’s latest homicide

Gatineau Police were called home on rue Du Vigneau on October 2nd on report of an altercation.

Police arrived to find a 25-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. The victim was taken to Hull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Timmy Ménard-Mélo was arrested near the scene a short time after the altercation. Police said hes been charged with murder but have not responded on the extent of the charges at this time. Ménard-Mélo’s address was listed as 328 rue Du Vigneau, Apt. 1, the same as where the victim was found.


Police Confirm The Death of Joey Morin Gatineau’s Second Homicide of the Year

Gatineau Police responded to a wellness check on April 21 at approximately 10am on rue Fernand Arvisais near boulevard Maloney.

Police arrived to find the body of 23 year old Joey Morin in the basement of his home on rue. Morin was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy was performed April 23rd at the Laboratory of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine in Montreal and revealed the cause of death to be a homicide.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and ask that anyone with information contact police at 819 243-4636.

The death of Joey Morin was the second Gatineau homicide of 2018. The first homicide of the year was Claire Hebert.


Update – Woman found dead in ​Gatineau being investigated as a homicide

​Gatineau police were called to a home at 222 rue Napoléon-Groulx, on January 30th on report of a deceased woman.

Police were investigating the death as suspicious, however an autopsy completed on February 1st revealed the woman’s death to be a homicide.

Police have not released the victim’s name or cause of death.

Update February 15th
Police have identified the victim as Claire Hebert, 58. An autopsy report revealed the cause of death to be head trauma. Hebert’s son, Denis Junior Dompierre, 38, has been charged with second degree murder.

Katrina Leigh Hazlett charged with the death of her 7 month old daughter

Gatineau police responded to a call of an unresponsive baby on May 29th . The 7 month old baby was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Mother of the baby, Katrina Leigh Hazlett, 28, has been charged with one count of criminal negligence causing death.

Gatineau police said the autopsy revealed “no trace of violence” on the infants body, however the autopsy revealed other information that will help the investigation. The cause of death has not been released at this time.

Body found in Gatineau home leads to a homicide investigation

Gatineau Police responded to a call of a man acting strangely on January 18th at 171 boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes.

Officers located and apprehended, Jean-François Dupuis 21behind the residence. Once inside the home, police found an unresponsive elderly woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have released the woman’s name as Thérèse Gauvreau, 83.

Jean-François Dupuis has been charged with second degree murder in the death of Gauvreau.

Crown Prosecutor Sylvain Petitclerc said “we do have some details that Mr. Dupuis had some problems, some mental problems before the incident.”


Christine Macneil shot in Gatineau hotel

Gatineau police were responding to reports of gunshots when they found the lifeless body of Christine Macneil inside a room at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Centre in Gatineau on October 19.

Police have no suspects at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.


Macneil had told Ottawa police she was a victim of human trafficking before she was killed.

Macneil also had ties to an Ottawa crime family. MacNeil former boyfriend was Emilio Spezzano, brother of Giovanni “Johnny” Spezzano, who was member of the Hells Angels, but since died by suicide earlier this year.
