The 2021 BC Homicide Victim List is available here

Nanaimo RCMP said a man was shot to death inside a parked car in the parking lot of a Wendy’s restaurant in Rock City Plaza on the Island Highway in Nanaimo on the 2900-block of Island Highway on May 20th at approximately 3:30pm.

The victim has been identified as Yasin Khan. According to reports Khan was linked to the Red Scorpion-Kang group, at the time of his murder. According to reports Khan had an earlier connection to the Brothers Keepers gang.

Investigation led police the Best Western Hotel on Metral Drive where several people were arrested. A vehicle associated to these individuals has been seized. 

RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien said “This is a dynamic investigation and at this time we cannot confirm if there are others who are not in custody, who may be involved in this shooting.”

Update July 3rd, 2024
Following the investigation, Ronald Joseph Campbell, who is already in custody, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Police are asking for any dash cam video taken in the area of Rock City Plaza from 3:15 pm to 3:45 pm today May 20th to contact them at 250-754-2345.
