James Bay Detachment and Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a residence on Sixth Avenue in Cochrane where a 34-year-old person was found unresponsive, and died shortly after on June 11th 2020. Police have not released the gender of identity of the victim.

Police announced on May 20th 2021, that Jason Prevost, 46, from Taykwa Tagamou First Nation, and Lea Korpan, 26, of Cochrane, were both arrested and are both charged with manslaughter and trafficking a controlled substance.
