Carlyle RCMP received a report of a potential homicide on April 24, 2024. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation and began working to confirm this information.

RCMP said an adult female was located deceased in a rural location in the RM of Moose Mountain around 12:00pm on April 25th. Police said her death is a homicide.

As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Tyler Shaw from Gainsborough, SK has been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. A second adult male was taken into custody in Oxbow on April 25 pending further investigation.

Update: The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Brianna Hayes from Oxbow, SK. 24-year-old Taylor Japp from Oxbow, SK, is charged with 2nd-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate. They ask anyone with information about Brianna’s death, or who interacted with her from April 22 to 24, to report it by calling 310-RCMP.
