Update Mother Charged – Regina: Investigation into the suspicious death of an 18-month-old boy continues

Regina police were dispatched to the 3200 block of Arens Road East to assist emergency responders after an 18-month-old boy was found injuried on June 10th at approximately 10:15 a.m.

Police said the child was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit is working in conjunction with the Coroners Service to determine the circumstances of the death.

Update July 16th
A criminal investigation, conducted by the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit, now confirms the eighteen-month-old child’s death is deemed a homicide. The cause of death has not been released.

Update August 6th
Regina police charged Chelsea Rae Whitby, 24, with manslaughter in the death of her 18-month-old son on June 10. Whitby is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Aug. 6 at 9:30 a.m.
