Nanaimo RCMP investigate the fatal stabbing of a man at the Port Place Mall

Police, Fire and EHS responded to a report of a stabbing at the Port Place Mall in Nanaimo on January 22nd at approximately 7:00pm.

Police arrived at the scene and learned that a male victim was stabbed in the parking lot near London drugs, before entering the mall. The victim received emergency first aid at the scene from bystanders and from emergency first responders. The victim was transported to the Nanaimo hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

R/Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP said “As the investigation is only in the preliminary stages, it is to early to say what if any relationship existed between the victim and suspect. Police can say though, with confidence, that they are not looking for any other suspects and there is no further risk to the public.”
