Nipawin RCMP were called to the Snowden, Saskatchewan, home of Diane and Kevin Searcy for a wellness check on November 5, 2025, at 1:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found 69-year-old Diane Searcy deceased and arrested her husband, 68-year-old Kevin Searcy, at the scene. The investigation was taken over by the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit, and Kevin Searcy has been charged with second-degree murder under Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

Police have not released the cause of death at this time. According to CBC, Diane suffered from severe dementia, and her husband was her caregiver.
