The Timmins Police Service responded to reports of a weapons incident in the area of Fifth Avenue and Cedar Street North in Timmins shortly after 8:00 p.m. on November 5th.

When police arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to the Timmins and District Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The second victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as D’Andre DEARINE

The Criminal Investigation Unit and Forensic Unit, along with patrol officers, are actively investigating. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) K9 Unit has been called in to assist with the search and investigation.

Investigators are also asking for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible for the shooting.

Update March 23rd 2026: Following a detailed investigation, and with support from police agencies across Ontario, authorities have identified the suspect as 18-year-old Desean Prince Wesley. Investigators have obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of first-degree murder, along with additional Criminal Code offences. He is believed to have ties to the Durham Region.

Update: On April 16, 2026, investigators with the Timmins Police Service Criminal Investigation Division arrested Desean Prince Wesley, 18, and charged him with first-degree murder along with additional offences under the Criminal Code.
