Homicide Investigation in Pauingassi First Nation, MB: 29-Year-Old Man Killed, Suspect Arrested

Late in the evening of April 29, 2026, Little Grand Rapids RCMP were alerted to a serious incident in Pauingassi First Nation. At approximately 9:40 p.m., a local First Nation Safety Officer reported a stabbing at a residence in the community.

When authorities arrived, they discovered a 29-year-old man from Pauingassi First Nation deceased at the scene. Investigators have since confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide, with Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services leading the investigation.

A suspect was taken into custody later that night. At around 11:23 p.m., a 20-year-old man from the community was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Little Grand Rapids RCMP, alongside Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to actively investigate as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.
