Alberta announced that RCMP have charged a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred on February 7, 2025, on Signal Road in Fort McMurray.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Junior Ashu, a resident of Edmonton.

According to CFWE Radio, on May 15, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, with support from the St. Albert RCMP Detachment, arrested 26-year-old Andrew Barnett, also from Edmonton.

Barnett is now facing a charge of first-degree murder. He has appeared before a Justice of the Peace and remains in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 28 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray.
