Beaverlodge RCMP responded to paramedics stating they were transporting a male who was injured under suspicious circumstances in Horse Lake First Nation on October 8th.
a 47-year-old man of Horse Lake First Nation, was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police have not released his identity or cause of death.
Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the investigation, in partnership with Beaverlodge RCMP, Western Alberta District General Investigation Section and the Grande Prairie Forensic Identification Unit.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old individual, a resident of Horse Lake First Nation, was charged with second-degree murder. They were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with a court appearance on Oct. 16, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie, Alta.
