On the morning of August 1, Coquitlam RCMP responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon in the 400 block of Midvale Street.

Upon arrival, police discovered a man suffering from severe injuries. He was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his wounds.

Steven Mosdell, 59, was taken into custody and originally faced an aggravated assault charge, which was later upgraded to second-degree murder.
