On December 8, 2022, officers from the North District General Patrol responded to a residence in the 1–99 block of Sardelle Crescent following reports of a suspicious death. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 65-year-old David Brian Zurawell.

The investigation was taken over by the Homicide Unit.

After reviewing the case, the Homicide Unit consulted with Manitoba Prosecution Services, who approved a charge of manslaughter.

On the morning of July 23, 2025, shortly before 10:00 a.m., investigators arrested a 67-year-old woman in connection with the case.

Alma Zurawell has since been charged with manslaughter and remains in custody.
